President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Aminu Maigari on Tuesday said the U-20 Women National Team, Falconets will qualify to play at the final of the ongoing FIFA U20 Women World Cup in Canada.
Following their easy 4-1 dismissal of New Zealand in the quarter final on Sunday, the Falconets clash with pacy North Korea at the Moncton Stadium, Moncton on Wednesday evening, in the first semi final.
"I have watched all the matches played by the girls since the championship started, and I am greatly delighted at the manner they have taken it one match at a time.
"The North Koreans are a leading powerhouse in women's football in the world, but so are our girls. This tournament has shown the prowess and skills of our girls. I am truly impressed and I know they have what it takes to reach the final."
Four years ago, Maigari was with the Falconets in Germany as they flew all the way to the final, before losing 0-2 to the host nation to finish with the silver medals.
"I believe that this time, our girls will not be content with reaching the final. Yes, they still have the semi final to play, but I know that once they conquer the Koreans, their eyes will be on the trophy."
Victory over the North Koreans on Wednesday will reward the Falconets with a final against either Germany or France, at Montreal's fabulous all-cover Olympic Stadium, on Sunday.
